Goethe expressed deep admiration for the Qur’an and Islamic spirituality. One of his well-known remarks is:

“This book will go on exercising, through all ages, a most potent influence.”

Context: Goethe studied the Qur’an extensively and incorporated Islamic themes into his poetry, especially in West–Eastern Divan.
